2 million dollar baby
Anyone familiar with the Bugatti Veyron knows it's like no other car in the world. How can this car get any better you ask. Enter the Bugatti Veyron 16.4 Super Sport, the competition version of the already competition- like base model Veyron.
How can you make a Super Sport version of a car that already has 4 turbochargers, 16 cylinders and 1001 horsepower behind the wheel. First larger turbochargers were added, intercoolers were revised, new air ducts, air dams, and diffusers for cooling and sleeker aerodynamics. The carbon fiber chassis and body takes weight off the car but it still tops at over 4, 000 pounds. The two V-8's share a crankshaft the quad- turbo 8.0 liter W-16 engine puts out 1200bhp @ 6400 rpm. The Veyron Super Sport runs 0-200-0 mph in 25.6 seconds, this is the same time it takes the 2011 Corvette ZR1 to go from 0-150-0 mph. The Veyron SS broke the production car land speed record at an unbelievable 268 mph.
A fast car definitely not for racing or road trips but one that adds a big kick to a fun weekend. To own such a collector piece you'll have to drop a whopping 2.6 Million dollars.
Lexus for the Rest of Us
What if we could have a real hybrid like the Honda Prius only in a more luxurious package? Lexus has done just that with the CT 200h.
The Honda Prius and Lexus CT 200h share the same drivetrain and suspension, outside of that they are very different. The CT 200h offers sporty handling and luxury interior as well as boasting a 42 mpg city and 41 mpg hwy. Lexus engineers have brought smoother handling to this car along with a more comfortable drive compared to the Prius.
The CT 200h comes with very little interior gadgets. Nothing on the interior screams or even squeeks Lexus quality apart from the standard Lexus leather seats. The dash area seems a bit crowded and cheap, including the archaic navigation screen. Some other issues with this car may be it's exterior. Although sporty, hatchbacks aren't a big seller in the U.S. Hatchback and Lexus are two words that don't go well together at all.
In summary the Lexus CT 200h is an interesting alternative to the Honda Prius. The sportier features and drive as well as the look are reminiscent of the Mazda 3 hatchback. The price is a high 30,000, and runs the same 0-60-0 time as the Prius' 9.8 seconds.
